A train is somehow the only character they did not make a single misstep with

Franchise expansion fever ruined the quality of the show until everyone hated the ending. Now who wants to watch the prequels and sequels of a franchise they can't trust with time commitment and emotional investment?

I have to differ on the a train part, if he died in herogasm then his redemption arc would be incomplete, just because you kill a racist doesn't mean you did something good. He only acted because of selfish reasons, he leaked stormfronts identity because he was getting replaced by her, he killed blue hawk because he injured his brother. He starts becoming selfless in s4 with his actions, by saving MM, hughie and starlight, and all of that serves to his end in s5, when his arc goes full circle and goes down as a hero.

Everyone talks about how dumb it was of Starlight to send away Marie and the gang.<br><br>But no one talks about how dumb the entire plan was from the start.<br><br>The Boys don't know that Deep killed Noir, they don't know that Homelander put Soldier Boy back on ice.<br><br>So ok, Butcher and Kimiko deal with Homelander.<br>Starlight takes out Deep.<br>Mm and Hughie somehow take on Oh Father.<br><br>But who the fuck is supposed to fight Soldier Boy and Noir?<br>Like what, they just got lucky?

I think it could have done two more seasons, but with one big change: have homelander actually LOSE his powers to soldier boy's blast at herogasm, and then slink away in the chaos. <br><br>This sets up why he gets into politics in S4: hes lost his superpowers, so now he needs to replace it with another type of power to maintain his superioirty complex and stay safe against the boys... AND it means you cn get rid of the pointless virus subplot, and just have him go after the V1 to restore his superpowers in the final season.<br><br>Add him going mad after getting them back and destroying everything like the promos promised, and youve got a much more satisfying ending.

I literally dropped the show at the season 3 finale.<br><br>Them comparing Soldier Boy to Covid was already moronic (an omnipresent threat against a guy who's movement you can track and is against a finite list of specific people...), and them saying the US didn't actually use Soldier Boy in combat is senseless (they would have invested a pretty penny into him, and he is nothing if not combat effective, in what world do you not deploy him?), but those weren't show-breaking issues.<br><br>The reasoning they give for going after Soldier Boy was "ally with your enemy to focus on the bigger threat".<br>Homelander already threatened to destroy the country at this point, and they didn't have a counter-measure against him like they did for Soldier Boy. Their reasoning should be why they ally with Soldier Boy against Homelander, as initially planned.<br>Then they depower Maeve, throw her out of a window on the top of the Seven Tower... And she just shows up fine at the end. Oh, and she's back with her girlfriend who had left her after discovering how corrupt she actually was. Neitheir of which are given explanations for.<br><br>Yep, that's the point where it should be clear the writing gave up.

Soldier Boy could've blasted Homelander and Ryan; they would've survived anyway. Butcher beats the crap out of Homelander, then they use season 4 to kill the rest of The Seven and bring down Vought, and everyone goes about their business.

I feel like the original first couple of episodes for season 5 were absolutely amazing, but what it was leading up to turned out to be really lackluster that Kripke decided to set up for a spinoff series instead of properly concluding the episode with a episode that was satisfying with scorched earth and others instead of entirely focusing it on the white house and focusing on the utter destruction of Vought tower, and still that ending with the crowbar to Homelander's head.

Heck, I think Hewey not forgiving A-Train could work. Basically, teaching, "Just because you say you're sorry, it doesn't mean you're forgiven."<br><br>A-Train could have used Hewey's lack of forgiveness as a means of turning over a new leaf.
