  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VImCJDFdwus&amp;t=300">5:00</a> We can buy that material you use on US roofs here as well. The difference is we mainly use it for woodsheds, chicken coops and garden huts. Nobody of sound mind would use it on a residential building.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VImCJDFdwus&amp;t=197">3:17</a> I have no problem with American house, if they would be ½ or ⅓ of the price of European houses… it would make sense, cheap product, cheaply made, quickly assembled, but cheap to own… so you would get what you pay for. But they’re NOT. They’re VERY expensive for what you get… so in comparison to the rest of the world, once again, Americans are getting screwed, big time.

  American guy based in Sweden here. We recently replaced the original tile roof on our house that was built in 1953. Not a single leak or issue for over 70 years and the new roof cost us about $15000, which will add to the value of the house. The new tile roof has a 30 year guarantee and basically we bought peace of mind until we’re too old maintain our home.

  Roofer here. The UK roof was using slate. Looked like Bangor Blue to me, or Welsh Slate. The German roof was tiles. They are made of ceramic.

  in germany, you have to run a special schooling program of about 3 years, to do constraction, plumper or elektricity work, plus another 2 to 3 years, to get a master certificate to do your own business.

  One of the reasons for ancient roman structures being so durable was due to the use of lime and specific volcanic ash for their mix on their concrete. <br>That type of mix reacting to saltwater just made it extremely durable and self-repairing.<br>Its a super interesting topic with a bunch of stuff written about it.

  The US isn&apos;t 30 years behind on construction, they just took a wrong turn at some point. Humans have known how to build things that last for centuries
