  Fighting games used to be one of the most popular genres of gaming and yet now it feels more like a niche.

  No multiplayer genre suffered more from the move to online than fighting games. &nbsp;It really needed the social aspect and multiple smaller player pools.

  Aren&apos;t you just asking for those anime arena fighters? Lots of those have simplified controls for casuals and cinematic story modes that retell the story of the anime.<br>They&apos;re around , but they dont have crossover appeal.

  The original DBZ Budokai 3 is in my top 5 fighting games list due to how much smoother the game became than the older ones.<br><br>My favorite Fighting series has been the same since i was a kid.<br><br>#1 Smash Bros<br><br>#2 Soul Calibur<br><br>#3 Mortal Kombat

  learning execution and implementing it against a real opponent is one of the most satisfying gaming experiences I can think of and no other game does it like 2d fighters. Yeah, you have to commit a bit of yourself to it but that makes it all the more rewarding

  Wow. Imagine having a take on fighting games with only Mortal Kombat and Smash Bros. as your frame or reference. What would that do to a sensible person?

  the zero to hero over here is in the learning. The story is a nice bonus.

  I think the closest we got to another franchise doing the MK style story mode was Tekken 8. It was over the top and silly, but an enjoyable experience overall.
