Why isn't this spoken about more? It's like the silent pain maker. We need more information instead of most people saying "periods are painful, get over it!" instead of people saying let's find out why you have this. I'm almost 45 and finally found a dr that is doing everything to find out why I felt this pain. Thank you for such a great video!

I was not diagnosed with this until after hysterectomy 😢 I was living miserable for the last 3 + years & my doctor only diagnosed me with a fibroid. Something has to change. Please advocate for your health.

Thank you for the most informative video on this topic I have found. I was just diagnosed with adenomyosis after having a hysterectomy. I’ve been suffering for years with painful, heavy periods and infertility. I was diagnosed with Endo when I was just 22 years old. I was lucky to have my two miracle babies. However after my second baby three years ago I was having ALL my Endo symptoms back. My regular OB kept dismissing all my symptoms and she recommended an IUD which I did. 2 years of bleeding with a week or two break then spotting daily for another year I was so physically exhausted, anemic, and mentally drained, I asked for a hysterectomy. My OB said she didn’t think my endo was back and that a historectomy wasn’t necessary being so young (I’m 33), and that it would be considered an elective surgery and that I would have to pay for it out of pocket. I was devastated and feeling hopeless. A friend than referred me to a new doctor.
My FIRST appointment, she asked me why I’m left suffering after 15 years and I left that day with a surgery date! I’m 14 days post hyst and I’m already feeling 1000% better!!! I can’t help but feel sad and angry that I was dismissed so many times by the Dr I trusted. So many women are dismissed and it breaks my heart.

Thank you for the amazing video that educated me on my new diagnosis and validating it wasn’t all in my head.

I'd never heard of it, I was looking into PCOS and endometriosis expecting I was likely to have one or both of these conditions. I got an external and internal pelvic ultrasound. They ended up finding adenomyosis. I've had awful periods since my very first period and they've always been irregular. I'm 19 and have decided to try the contraceptive pill to help regulate my period and help to manage my hormones in hopes of minimizing menstrual pain. Fingers crossed it turns out to be helpful and that I don't experience any severe side effects. I'm also nervous about fertility issues related to adenomyosis. My mum had a lot of trouble with getting pregnant, she had fertility treatments for about 4 years before she got pregnant with my brother. She was checked for endometriosis and PCOS she didn't have either. After learning more about what I have it's likely she had what I do. She was getting these tests over 20 years ago, so I think it's likely they weren't looking in the right places. It may have been part of her fertility struggles. I plan on trying to get pregnant at around 25-26 even if I don't have a partner. To give myself the best chance of being able to carry my own baby. My mum started at 29 and didn't have my brother till she was about 36.

I have adeno. I do have 2 children 9 and 11 but my husband and got a vasectomy reversal in December and have been trying. I was able to get pregnant in April. I lost the baby at 8w 5d but the baby stopped growing at 6w 1d according to ultrasounds. It was devastating. I’m glad you shared this. I’m praying that I am able to conceive and go full term with a baby.

I have this :( an ultrasound for a cyst led to another ultrasound which led to an MRI. Trying to conceive naturally and I just turned 36... I've never heard of this prior to going through all the testing. Heavy painful periods my entire life and thinking it was normal as that's all I've ever known.

I had a transvaginal ultrasound back in August and I was diagnosed with Adenomyosis and endometriosis through the ultrasound because the doctor saw endometriosis as well.

I suffered for YEARS and it wasn't diagnosed until my hysterectomy. I was diagnosed with both, Endometriosis and Adenomyosis. I was glad to finally have an answer even if it was years overdue.

Thanks for the explanation.

Natural remedies could also help. Understanding your gut health and doing the Dutch test to understand your hormones (estrogen/progesterone etc) is key. Exercise, reducing stress, diet, detoxing the body, anti inflammatory foods etc is so important. Doctors mainly start with hysterectomy or contraceptives when you can try natural remedies to “try” and heal the body.

Diagnosed three yrs ago. It's only gotten worse. I think it's progressive. It's the most terrible pain ever. Pain every day not just at that time. I've always been told I had dysmenorrhea. Now need hysterectomy
