Have a Pansonic VHS which the last time i used got a tape stuck and opened the case and thought to myself that looks a bit complicated so its sat at the back a wardrobe for a couple of years now. Maybe a odd thing to say these days as have a Video, Music and live TV server to send media to any device in my home but there was a joy of recording stuff of the TV with a VHS which i miss

I had the Hi-Fi stereo version of this one, I think it was the Sony SLV-E70. I bought it around 1994 maybe 1995, so a mid-90's model. Unfortunately it had issues chewing tapes and it went back under guarantee to have the pinch roller changed, and that put me off buying another Sony.

Excellent video many thanks. I never stopped using VHS, it amusing to see it becoming trendy again. I picked up my current 90s high end Panasonic 15 years ago for £10, just needed new belts.

Nice. I don't know why that bloke said these old Shintom mechs were bad - they're very solid, mechanical, "clunky" units that stand the test of time.

SONYs SLV-E series usually suffer from the so called cracked Blue Gear. It's a little more trickier to fix because you need to disassemble the VCR. And you need the replacement gear part that's very rare nowadays, so you basically buy a 3D printed spare part.
