I could have made it a lot easier on myself if I mixed new solder in with the old. That's usually what I do and it works well. For some reason I brain farted on this one and forgot about that until I was done 😂

Thanks for the tip on the wick! Tips and tricks are always welcome here. I do it the way I do just because it's easy for me to hold on. But I'll definitely try it your way next time and see how it goes!

This should have been the default color of the Xbox IMO. It just looks so much better. The gold clock cap by the parallel cable is a dead give away it's 1.6. Ok, watching the video I was like "Umm, is he going to forget about the thermal paste?" LOL

I recapped my pals Crystal Xbox a year or so ago and I had a hard time desoldering the caps too. I ended up just using hot air on one side and tweezers on the other side and I instantly wished I done it that way from the beginning.

Btw, I would cut off segments of wick before using it, cos the heat just travels up the length into the rest of the roll and burns up the flux and melts the wee plastic container it is in. I always cut off strips using a nail clipper and hold it with tweezers.

I'm sure you know. Trying flooding the solder points that you need to desolder with either low melt solder, or leaded solder. It brings the melting point of the original unleaded. Makes the job an absolute breeze.

You have the same accent as a friend of mine. He was from Perth Amboy. Am I close?

You have no idea how disappointed I am to realize I can't install the 128MB RAM upgrade because of the incompatibilities between Samsung and Hynix RAM chips; I have the Hynix chips which also means I have the 1.6b! How unlucky.

Who on earth taught you how to solder christ. Your removing some capacitors not dismantling a nuclear reactor. Oh and dont use your wick like that kids thats a rookie move and slightly dangerous
