  I was born in 1961 and lived through the entire era of these inventions. As a computer geek myself (thanks to Star Trek), I experienced the first generations of personal computers. Thanks for this video.

  I was in high school in the 1970’s and I can remember a couple of science classes where we learned to use a slide rule. Electronic calculators were still considered cheating.

  Great review. Being a teenager during the 70s  I went thru all these unbeliavable high tech things. Those were happy days discovering things as they appeared.

  (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AomTLl1kAV4&amp;t=1230">20:30</a>) Bar codes. &nbsp;My family and I were in Europe from 1979 - 1982. &nbsp;I was 22. &nbsp;When we left the U.S., bar codes did not exist. &nbsp;When we returned checkers were just sliding away while I just stood there staring. &nbsp;It took about a minute for me to realize this not only rang up the price, it deleted one from the stores inventory and placed one on next weeks order. &nbsp;I was amazed and impressed. &nbsp;Been a while and what we do now makes bar code scanners blasé.

  The worlds first ATM was unveiled in the UK in 1967 - It was installed at a Barclays Bank branch in Enfield, North London, on June 27, 1967.

  Hello from Finland 🇫🇮. I’m 74 and I had HP-21 ❤️calculator in 1975 when I was in technical college in Helsinki. I still have it and it’s fully functioning. Next I had digital watch with red numbers. That was magic those times. Next I upgraded it to Citizen Databank where I had telephone numbers and alarms. I still have that too.

  one thing to consider is fuel injection. it cannot be stressed enough how this revolutionized engine performance. in the early 70s carburation was still being used, really dependent on weather, how long the car sat on the driveway, no guarantee for a quick start. then fuel injection introduced in the mid 70s, then used by almost every manufacturer by the end of the decade. the incredible knowledge that you could count on your car to start without any fuss, it precisely regulated fuel/air mixture and no matter the weather, started.

  Back in the late nineties, I set my answering machine with the phone recording that gave out 3 tones. Then the message: “ we’re sorry, the number you dialed has been disconnected or no longer in service……”.<br><br>Said it twice and then beep… leave a message.<br><br>Never got a spam call again.

  Of all of these things the one that I appreciated the most at the time was the ATM. Getting to the bank to cash a pay cheque used to be a weekly pain in the butt.

  Calculators were banned in my school in the 70&apos;s.Apparenty maths teachers preferred the wrong answer using mental maths to the correct answer using a calculator.The stupid thing was that we all used calculators out of school hours because mental maths isn&apos;t accurate.
