  I studied East Asian history (not my major but took a few classes) during undergrad, and took two classes on Korean history. As a westerner, wanted to point to a few other things to consider as to why Korea was able to develop so quickly. <br>- A firm, strong fundamental sense of cultural identity. Its history extends back thousands of years.. spanning several dynastic periods and phases. Even as a small country, Korea has exerted soft power throughout East Asia and beyond. To name one example, Silla&apos;s capital Gyeongju existed as a cultural hub in East Asia for nearly a thousand years. It was a major trading hub and stopping point along the Silk road. Prized were Korea&apos;s ceramic wares, fabrics, farmed goods, etc. <br><br>- A strong sense of cooperation during hardships, and sacrifice. Koreans have an ability to quickly consolidate and work together towards a common goal. This included the urge to modernize as quickly as possible post Korean War. <br><br>- Education. It&apos;s a bedrock of Korean success and despite some flaws in its education system, Korea has a highly educated, well informed society. <br><br>Cheers!

  The colors everywhere, the contrasts between modern and old architecture, and the vibes between each generation make South Korea look chill.

  My father was assigned to Korea from 1963-65 and we lived in Seoul. &nbsp;Now the city is not recognizable at all compared to when we lived there. &nbsp;Many, many, many memories, and really cannot carry it further than that.

  These days, hiking has become one of the biggest travel trends in Korea.<br>I recommend visiting not only Seoul but also other local tourist cities.<br>I hope you’ve made some wonderful memories during your trip.
