Gwangjang market is on the news every week, ripping people off. Store front owners are suing the food stall vendors because they rip people off, and now far less people go. Its literally just for tourists.

I went to Baehwa Yeogo(Baehwa Girl's High School) and Tongin market was on the way to my school. I had to go through the market every morning and afternoon. I had lunch and snacks from there and have so many good memories about that old market. The oil Tteokboki used to be run by this old lady who was from North Korea. We used to have that as a hearty snack. Now I live in Canada I forgot about this market. Thank you for bringing back such a warm memory.

Here in South Africa we have something similar to the Korean twisted bread dipped/rolled in sugar. We call is "Koeksusters" directly translated it means "Cake sisters". Its basically the same thing. We just dip them in homemade syrup rather than sugar. Although we do have the sugar version 😅😂

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0VhPJbWsFE&t=98">1:38</a> what that reminds me of is actual Belgian waffles.  I did an internship in Brussels in 1989 and for the equivalent of about 50 to 75 cents you could get a Belgian waffle.  No cream, no toppings, it was just waffle batter with chunks of sugar in it.  When the waffle was cooked the sugar would caramelize And squeeze out The surface of the waffle.  Eat that hot with a little bit of salt on it awesome.
