  I moved to Berlin in 2004 from the UK. I was 29 years old when I moved there. Before moving to Berlin I rarely used to go out. Mainly because I simply didn&apos;t like the night life - however, that was in Leicester, so make of that what you will. It was about my second month in Berlin that I met a colleague at work who had also just moved to Berlin from Spain. Both of us hardly knew anyone so we decided to meet up in Berlin and go for a few drinks. From that night forward I realised what a special place Berlin was. We moved from one bar to the next, chatting to strangers having a laugh then finally ending up in some night club hidden down a dark alleyway only knowing about it from word of mouth. I never used to be good at chatting to women, but I soon found a new confidence from meeting so many new people and for me this totally changed my life. I lived for the weekend and those endless nights - sometimes going home with someone, sometimes going home alone. Those days are long gone, as I have a family now and certainly wouldn&apos;t have the energy to stay up till the early hours of the morning. But I wouldn&apos;t swap those memories for anything else. As a side note, I would say things have changed for the worse. Berlin has certainly lost its edge over the last 20 years and as most people usually comment, it doesn&apos;t take long before a good location is ruined by a bunch of influencers.

  As someone who grew up here and has lived here for more than 30 years, I have a completely different view of the city and how it has changed, especially in the last 10 years and not for the better, unfortunately to the point where it is no longer worth living in. I think you portray Berlin from a very tourist perspective. Berlin is cool as long as you have the money or are just a visitor.

  Please stop moving here. I know you think it&apos;s incredibly cheap compared to New York and London. But we don&apos;t have affordable housing anymore and I can&apos;t survive these insane rent increases. Poor but sexy was 20 years ago, we&apos;re cooked.

  I think all places we go to, we say &quot;it was better when...&quot;, but it&apos;s honestly kinda cringey seeing how social media has infiltrated and made it mainstream the past 5 or so years. 11 years ago, when I first visit, and stayed for months every year after, I saw the shift. It was from a grungey place, that was still somewhat raw... very cheap, and still not on the mainstream radar. It was truly my favorite place in the world. But now, like every other great city, it has been watered down &amp; while anyone can &quot;be who they want&quot;... it has attracted people who want to be cool, not people who are just themselves.

  I‘ve lived in Berlin (from Canada) for the last 8 years and I’m still in love. An 80 year old woman in my local Kneipe told me Berlin is a city where everything is always changing and half the people want the change, and half of them want the past.

  I live in Germany, me and my Boyfriend are young and it was Winterbreak, we had a so called Deutschland ticket ( A Ticket where you can take any normal train 2nd class) it was 4 am we were bored, he said &quot;Lets go to Berlin&quot; I called him crazy, just to pack our bags, walk to the city and take our 10 hour journey via Train. This was a few months ago now, we were only there for a couple of days. I dream about it, I talk about it, and honestly I miss it, it&apos;s like I left my heart there and forgot to take it with me.

  I was born here in Berlin and have been living on Warschauer Straße for over 30 years now and in the last 15 years, in my opinion, the area has developed for the worse and somehow lost its old charm, like in so many places in Berlin. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fr9MkUTWHco&amp;t=1401">23:21</a> The Domke butcher&apos;s shop is one of the few shops that have survived and gives me fond memories of back then, of the time when life was more carefree and you didn&apos;t have to worry about whether you would still be there in the next few years can pay the rent for the apartment you have lived in for over 30 years.<br>Today I don&apos;t recognize a lot of things in my own city and I wonder whether it&apos;s even worth living here anymore, even if it&apos;s my home and it would be very difficult for me to move away.

  It’s also a bit disappointing that Berlin is often portrayed solely as the “hardcore, techno, kinky, grunge” scene when the city has so many other sides. I keep seeing the same types of people with similar styles and attitudes because Berlin attracts that crowd, but there’s so much more to the city beyond that.

  You show the Kreuzberg hipster/alternative Berlin very well. However that is just one bubble, Berlin has more too it. E.g. historical architecture like on Museum island, old rich neighbourhoods like Charlottenburg, posh neighbourhoods like Prenzlauer Berg and beautiful parks like Gärten der Welt or Britzer Garten.

  The Song „Schwarz zu Blau“ by the German singer Peter Fox describes that special atmosphere of Berlin very well. <br>But Berlin is more than you show in your video. There are wonderful rivers, lakes and forests. And also posh and noble quarters with huge mansions in Dahlem, Lichterfelde, Wannsee etc.<br>Regards from Berlin
