I'm 93 and come from a family of 12. We never had bread and milk but what we did have was porridge for breakfast, potatoes veg and fish, meat or offal of some kind. Every Saturday summer or winter we had pea soup made from bacon bones and peas ,cold water and if they were ready from the garden we added an onion. We grew all of our veg. and also we kept chickens as well as rabbits and never went hungry during the war. Also we shared quite a lot of soups and stew with 2 or 3 single ladies who only had one ration book. I'm alone now and I still cook every other day and it's not this rubbish.
