My Grandmothers never had freezers or microwave ovens just a pantry.

My Grandmother had a Pantry and Cellar dug into the ground beside the kitchen outside door. She dried anything or canned everything that crossed her way. She stored like a Squirrel. She was fantastic! She was absolutely Brilliant! Nobody went hungry under her watch. Bless her and all of those like her.

I grew up in the 50's and 60's and had my own home in the 70's. All this information was common knowledge those days, we have lost a lot, in many ways, with 'progress'. I'm now a man in my 70's but still use most of these tips and tricks. Great video by the way.

Major assumption here is that people in the UK had freezers. Americans did, but not Brits. And nobody had freezer bags! Plastic bags just didn't exist.

None of my elderly relatives or their friends had freezers. They had a meat safe built into the coolest wall o the house with a slate or marble floor. Full fat milk stays fresher longer anyway because of it's higher fat content. Preserving and bottling was the name of the game.

I love to get huge packages of chicken breasts and legs...and pork chops...and I divide them into foil pans or baggies and season them with olive oil, salt, pepper and garlic and onion powder....label them and freeze. I do mashed potatoes and burritos, soups...and I also put leftover roast beef covered with the juices into containers. Very simple, but I always have something for a meal so I barely feel like I am cooking anymore❤

so much for freezing milk in icecube trays and then dropping them into freezer bags. There was no such thing as a freezer bag back then. Or muffin tins. Our left over mashed potato was fried up the next day for bubble and squeak. This video is good for ideas now but has no idea about what we did back then. Zip lock bags for freezing cheese? Forget it, they didnt exist in the early 70s.

My gran had a fridge with a tiny freezer part in the top of it, about the size of a loaf. I can say neither her, OR my mother even, did none of these things.
