  The “Is he smart?” part always brings me to tears. That moment you realize Forrest was aware of his own condition and didn’t want his son to face the same problems he did. 😢

  One of my favorite details that says a lot about Forrest is that when the man on the bench didn't believe he was the owner of the Bubba Gump Shrimp Corporation, he could have just taken that copy of Fortune out 30 seconds earlier to prove the guy wrong.  But he didn't care about that.  He really didn't have anything to prove, he was way more interested in showing his new friend a picture of Lieutenant Dan

  Forrest is taught early on to run from danger/pain. That's why when Jenny leaves him after they make love for the first time, he runs for a very long time because that's how he's always reacted to pain and this pain in particular ran deeper than any other pain he's felt before. He and Jenny are alike in this aspect. She also tends to run a lot from her problems rather than facing them and dealing with them. When they stop running and come together again, they are finally at peace and don't have to run anymore.

  Didn't notice it as a kid but whenever he said "And that's all I got to say about that" was his way of letting you know how much it affected him.

  The brilliance of stupidness, the kindness of dumbness, the luck of the ignorant, the braveness of the innocent. Serendipity has never been portrayed so well. I love this movie.

  I lost my left leg to childhood bone cancer, so I felt a personal attachment to Lieutenant Dan's character. It was so much about his performance that I related to because it just seems like the emotional trauma of dealing with his disability was mirroring my life. I have nothing but praise for Gary's performance. He really nailed what it is like for those of us who live with physical disabilities.

  How many realized that when Jenny told Forest that she was sick and he said, “do you have a cough due to cold” that he was reciting a line from a 1970’s tv commercial for a cough medicine.

  During his speech, he said, "Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes, they don't go home at all. That's a bad thing. That's all I have to say about that." That still hits hard.
