8 Oscar winning women in one movie. That’s pretty amazing. Celia and Minnie’s onscreen chemistry and scenes together are my favorites. They play off each other beautifully.

It's so sad that Celia and Johnny, 2 people who would be wonderful parents, are the only one who don't get to have children. Life is so unfair

The man that was assassinated in the movie was the late Medgar Evers not MLK. He was a field secretary for the NAACP and activist in Jackson during that time.

In the book, Abeline ends up taking over writing the Miss Myrna column after Skeeter leaves. The movie kinda leaves you hanging as to what happens with her.

I just realized Minnie asked about Celia’s “children to fill up the empty rooms” as they panned to the rose bushes behind Celia. ART

Something that is implied but not explicitly said in the movie is that Celia is from Sugar-ditch - she is white, but she is from a very poor family and neighborhood. Part of it is Hilly's jealousy , part of it is classism.

Viola Davis, Angela Bassett, Octavia Spencer, Danielle Deadwyler, and Taraji P. Henson are graduates of Yale, Harvard, Auburn University, Spellman & Columbia, and Howard, respectively. These are well-educated black women who can show range.

I forgot how STACKED this cast was: Viola, Octavia, Jessica, Aunjanue, Emma, Sissy, Cicely, Allison and especially Bryce, who’s extremely underrated

I love this movie. My great-grandmother lived this. She was a maid for 70+ years. The children she raised kept in touch with her until she passed away. She didn't teach her daughter how to cook so that she wouldn't end up a maid. Because she did that, her daughter became a manager..her daughter's daughter became a senior manager...and me...her great granddaughter became the family's first doctor.

One of my favorite things from the book is how when Minnie got out from under Leroy with the kids, she moved into Miss Foote’s house and her kids filled up the empty rooms & house with the sound of happy children.

If they read this, it wasn't Martin Luther King. The black man on the news that was shot in front of his kids was a civil rights activist named Medger Evers. He did a great deal in the fight for equality.

How incredibly stupid to worry someone using your toilet when they’re the same ones cooking your food😂😂😂
