  Fished a big farm pond one morning with my son, starting at 5am.  Caught about a dozen big bass (3 to 6 lb) until the sun peeked over the trees and hit the water, then they absolutely quit.

  Heres one for you : I fished for salmon/ steelhead , then reef fish till 60. Now 4 years of learning about bass, 100&apos;s of hours of videos, etc.<br>Anyway, the lake near me is Douglas Lake near Gatlinburg TN. A TVA lake with 80 feet of up and down during the year. So no vegetation, little cover, just a silt/sand/pebble/bedrock bottom. Steep drop off. So I bought a Deeper Chirp castable sonar ball. First 2 years I&apos;d go all the time and toss it out just to see what&apos;s around at different times of the day. And in this lake once the water warms up, the fish are near shore late evening till early morning. Once the sun is up and out, the larger fish which would be the bass, drum and catfish are at 24 to 30 ft deep all day. Which is about 25 to 40 yards out depending. Long cast. That explained why I never saw anyone catch anything but carp from the bank during the day. Lots of bluegill, maybe a drum or two, but never a bass. So as I see guys &nbsp;messing around 10 to 20 yards out, throwing buzz baits or crank baits, &nbsp;they&apos;re fishing dead water. Guys with live nightcrawlers get carp. Several of the TVA lakes seem to be very similar. Anyway... Now Im there 2 hours before daylight to about 2 hrs after very first light, and after the sun is down behind the horizon. Any other time is time wasted. &nbsp;Unless you&apos;re in a boat.

  This makes so much sense now, the first half of your fishing needs to be figuring out what works. I hadn&apos;t been catching much fish my first few times but I got 3 bass in about in hour today from realizing that if I cast diagonal and move around and jiggle a worm every 10 seconds the fish will go for it.<br><br>Just saw this video and it matches exactly what my experience today was. Thank you for this, extremely helpful!
