  As a young boy in the army cadets, after a long, cold, damp, miserable and unsuccessful field day, we were sitting in a double-decker bus on the way home, put an alligator clip onto the handrail and tuned the bus up for our first contact of the day !

  Years ago I heard of a ham radio contest called the Strange Antenna Challenge. The idea was to load up anything and see if it could make contacts. People used things like gutters, curtain rods, bed springs, aluminum ladders, anything metal to see what would happen. This video was in a similar vein. It was pretty cool and shows that a G90 can load up just about anything!

  The more I use the g90 and see experimenting like this, the more I believe this is the best choice for a radio after a disaster!

  About 40 years ago I loaded up a string of sausages with 100W and made a few contacts. The saltier the sausages are the more conductive they are. Best 73 DE KB6OZX

  A Chaos Computer Club Video got me into this hobby. The speaker said: I connected my radio to a drainpipe and got from Germany to USA. I got my license and now I will embark on my journey to turn random objects into antennas.

  Taming wild antennas is one of my favourite activities other than playing banjo and cleaning out my workshop.  This is excellent fun.

  the crash barrier is a great idea i have one 100yrds from my house and its miles long . i have seen a video of a Norwegian ham using a motorway crash barrier to listen to submarines on the VLF band
