Because of your advice regarding blood pressure, I cut out processed food and sugar. My blood pressure has dropped and I've dropped a dress size. I really wish I had looked at my diet sooner. For anyone thinking about a diet overhaul, go for it. You won't regret it.

Excellent video! 👏 In my late 40’s, I was having lots of symptoms of peri-menopause: extremely stubborn belly fat, insomnia, energy crashes, moodiness, brain fog, random aches and pains, etc. On another’s suggestion, I decided to try eliminating sugar/sweeteners, grains, starches, and seed oils, while significantly increasing whole-food proteins and natural fats, non-starchy vegetables & fermented foods, and then started to incorporate intermittent fasting and daily walking. That did it!!! I finally lost the belly fat, my energy levels and mental clarity improved and stabilized, no more random aches and pains, and now I sleep like a rock. Now in my mid-50’s, I actually feel like I’m in the best health of my adult life … menopause ‘n’ all. ❤

Thank you so much for talking about menopause. It is still sadly covered too little

I realised that most of my peri symptoms were actually metabolic in origin. Energy crashes, brain fog, anxiety, mood disturbance etc. I switched to a stable insulin protocol: eggs and butter for breakfast, wild venison for lunch and something with a low glycemic spike and around 30g of protein for dinner. Carbs are centred around what activity or exercise I'm doing, and if I'm sat in a chair for hours, I'll keep them very low. I will mainly eat them before and after a workout so they don't spike blood sugar.

It's amazing. I've never felt so level and had so much energy and I'm currently not taking HRT. Combined with weight training I've found the perfect solution to managing lower estrogen levels. I've also increased my muscle mass at 47.

I wish every woman had access to this advice as I didn't hear it from any doctor in 5 separate appointments.

I also like the long videos. I can get short-form limited information in plenty of other places.
Also, please don’t go shorter now that you’ve got to women’s health issues as women need and will appreciate the more in-depth advice. Thank you.

Water intake is so important too. I’ve noticed from my mid-40s that I’ve become much more dehydrated. Unfortunately, with the horrendous lack of education and support women have basically been left to fend for themselves during a huge biological life event. I’m astounded at the lack of support and collaborative approach from the Government and Health Service to ensure women are educated in this area so that they can do what’s necessary to safeguard their future health.

I stopped smoking at 40. I quit drinking at 49; and entering my 50th year I’ve overhauled my diet/hydration and hope to start weight training to support my body and mind as I enter such a fundamental change in my life. And with absolutely no mandatory assistance from the Health Service. This is a disgrace in 2026.

Just to clarify, the term is “Peri-menopause” when you start to notice changes in your cycle and experience symptoms associated with changes in your hormones. Perimenopause can last up to a decade and for some women, it can even start in your 30s.

After 12 consecutive months of having NO periods, you are then “Post-menopausal” for the rest of your life. “Menopause” is literally like, the day you’ve hit the 1 year/no period mark. 🤓

Before I turned 50 I went to a wonderful nutritionist to help me lose weight. She had me doing pretty much everything talked about in this video. I was also lifting weights and walking and the weight did indead come off. It made peri menopause not much different than my normal cycle, with the exception of the dreaded hot flashes. Now it's 15 years later with some left turns that life threw in my way and I'm having to learn all of this again. Thanks for the refresher course.
