  All I know is my older 4L Q7 with Torsen is awesome in winter and simple in maintenance, just change oil in transfer case every 60K. It just plain works and no fancy electronics or clutches to fail.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6VRD15PF-w&amp;t=142">2:22</a> Since 2008-2009, all Audi models with Torsen Quattro have switched out the original Torsen type-A differential depicted in the video with either a planetary style Torsen type-C center differential supplied by JTEKT or a parallel-axis Torsen center differential supplied by AAM. &nbsp;These newer center differentials meant the torque split was changed to 40:60 from <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6VRD15PF-w&amp;t=3050">50:50</a> to improve handling agility. &nbsp;The basic characteristics of the JTEKT and AAM differentials are the same, meaning both feature an asymmetric/dynamic torque split which can be varied from 70/30 to 15/85 front-to-rear with the default being 40/60. &nbsp;Many of these vehicles are also available with the rear sport differential which provides torque vectoring to improve agility even further.

  i had an acura tl sh-awd and it was great, then i had an audi s4 with sport diff and it was great, now i have an m240 xdrive and it is the greatest.... and seeing this confirms it

  Audi RS5/4 in B8 (8T) generation had crown gear-based center differential which is clutch-locking; apparently, weight saving wasn’t worth it and they haven’t used it anywhere else. R8 at least in the 4S gen has haldex, controlling the front axile.
