An important thing to note about Guthix's death is that he wasn't "murdered", he allowed himself to die. He knew what Sliske was up to for a long time and allowed him to kill him. Guthix wanted a world where mortals were outside the influence of gods, including himself, to live and to prosper by no hands but their own. He basically just threw the keys of responsibility in our hands and peaced out.

"what if he should wake up, and doesn't" is so sick, I really like that one.

It would be really cool if they tie in OS' solution to this as a "paralell universe" where the quest acknowledges the existance of rs3's quest and guthix' death.

An interesting thing to note is that the original intent back in the day wasn't to kill Guthix, it's an idea that developed in 2012. Like in an interview with the Gower Brothers, Paul Gower said killing Guthix wasn't his plan and he likely won't have killed him if he were still working at the company. Old School can certainly find some interesting stories to tell with him still alive. As a side note, I often wish Old School would try to base the game more around that original lore that we know of from old dialogue, books, and comments from former and current developers, but sadly they often prefer to just rewrite or delete those old references in order to create parity with modern Runescape 3 lore.

I really appreciate your runescape 3 knowledge, it really makes for a unique point of view to most osrs players

I don't want us to interact with gods. We should be dealing with mortals or immortals derived from mortals only. We cannot keep raising the bar on power level. This is a horizontal progression game not vertical one. The player doesn't even need to kill the god themselves, just witnessing it and being a major component is to much. There need to be lines we cannot cross. Look what happened to poe. I love the game, but holy shit is the story a mess.  And RuneScape... They figured out it was a bad idea already and thus the cleanup... So no... Guthix should not wake up, nor should he die. We do not need a 6th age. What we need is an end to a mortal conflict.

OSRS has already gotten the ball rolling on Sliske's involvement in the story. I think a much more compelling plotline would be one where we discover his plot to kill Guthix and prevent it. That would cement the two games truly within two separate timelines, one where Guthix lives and the other where he dies.
