15 Years Later - Was Dragon Age 2 A Good RPG??

  I really enjoyed Dragon Age II. It’s certainly not the masterpiece that Origins was, but that’s ok. I loved that it was all in one location over the span of years. It felt like watching a season of well-written television, where as Origins was more an epic film. It had its problems with location repetition, but I enjoyed the action combat system very much. I have very fond memories of this one. I miss BioWare.

  I love Dragon Age 2. I am by no means blind to its flaws, but the characters are great, and I really like the smaller scale, more personal story of the Hawke family. I really like how dark it gets, and I love Hawke as a character. Also, considering how little time they had to make the game, I think they did a great job with the time they had.

  Hawke's design is so badass that I'm still wearing his armor in Baldur's Gate 3 all these years later.

  Dragon Age 2 was a teaser for what we could have had but never did. On it's own, taken for what it was, it was actually pretty awesome, but I think the vision the team had at the time was abandoned. Inquisition became it's own thing and was great in its own way, but there are few games or stories in general that capture what DA2 delivered. It's a neat piece of gaming history we'll never see properly fulfilled. It was great and it was fleeting and it was unfinished.

  It may have a whole host of flaws, but I still remember how it made me feel. Of all the games,  I feel the most attached to my Hawke and his crazy group of friends.

  DA2 was the odd mix of moderate RP-ability, pretty good combat, and outrageously compelling, polarizing narrative. That isn&apos;t to say it isn&apos;t a fairly flawed game, but there&apos;s a core of. . . . something mostly genuine. (looking at you, final Orsino fight)

  The DLCs were pretty good. As the world expanded, they shifted from being a tactical game to a hybrid until mostly eliminating tactical play altogether in Veilguard. Only franchise my wife ever played. Hooked her on the original when we first got together. She liked Inquisition better than I did, but the character interactions were her bright spot. She’s a better role player than tactician. And the number of times I had to get her un-lost are uncountable at this point.<br><br>She quit Veilguard halfway through. I might have actually gotten farther, as I just played it as an action game.

  I enjoyed DA2 when I played it years ago. And I still enjoy it now.<br>Yes there was too much repetition with the environments but I overlooked that.<br>It was the characters that solidified it for me.<br>I felt like I bonded with them, I cared about them, and I disliked a lot of the antagonists for good reason.<br>And after many play throughs of this game, I still cry like a baby when we find Hawke&apos;s mother.<br>Gamlen reacts perfectly after this, and it feels genuine.<br>I went back to it recently and played it 3 times in a row. I had a great time.<br>Purple Hawke was great.<br>It was not perfect, but I liked it anyway.

  In dragon age origins i had to carry literally 999 elfroot potions and restock every couple of missions dragon age 2 i still had difficulties on missions but the potions came down to having the one that heals injuries &nbsp;you could only carry a few potions for the party
