funny you mention Larian should take over the DA franchise. Bioware created Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, followed by Neverwinter Nights after which their license expired. Instead of going into new negotiations with Wizards of the Coast, Bioware decided to create their own fantasy setting so they can have more control and freedom over it; thus Dragon Age was born. The gameplay for Neverwinter Nights is actually already 70% the same, with Bioware adding new features such as the tactics system and a more streamlined skill tree. <br><br>For over 10 years, Dragon Age: Origins was the closest thing to a Baldur's Gate 3 cRPG fans could get, until the actual BG3 came out. So Larian creating a Dragon Age 3 (since Inquisition and Veilguard were never numbered) would be hilarious.<br><br>--<br>Also just some background info on DA2. It was originally meant to be another expansion, like Awakenings, but the executives pushed for a new game instead. They only had about a year of development I think and iirc the original name for the expansion was supposed to be Exodus. EA wanted to make Mass Effect and Dragon Age yearly action games like Call of Duty and wanted less focus on RPG mechanics.

DA:O is still one of the best RPG's available to play. And the fact that there are so many different "party" dynamics to enjoy really makes multiple play-throughs feel so different. My Dwarf Rog may have the same skills as my Human/Elf Rogs, but the way they interact with the "world" are completely different. And the way I mix-match party members depending on how I want to set-up the way I battle is amazing. And while I DO really believe that the Human Noble option provides you a better option for a "happy ending"..... the Dwarf origins is the best in my opinion. And the way the world interacts with Dalish/City Elf characters can make playing a "bad-guy character" so much fun.

I don't have time myself for a new play through. Female City Elf Origin is still the most harrowing.
