Man the B 26 counter invader is such an interesting aircraft, it's a shame it's not discussed more, good to see you covering it

At the end of the 1970s, I have a very poignant and distinct memory as a nine year-old of flying in an all-black A26 in Panama. I think my father was considering buying it, although I have no idea of the owner or its provenance. It had the gun nose, but they had been replaced with ballast. The owner flew in the pilot position, my dad as co-pilot and I was firmly strapped into a seat further back. It's one of the most exciting things I've ever experienced, and also one of the loudest. We flew at about 200 feet all the way down to the Colombian border, over the Darien. If anything had gone wrong, we would never have been found. In the event, he bought a DC3 instead, as it was a bit more practical....

The A-26K Counter Invader is such a wicked looking aircraft, with its night camo and loaded down with stores.

I love that you indicate when images have had to be enhanced for presentation. You set the standard for media integrity that we once took for granted. Thank you.

It's wild to think the C123 fought in Vietnam despite being, at first, a glider design, with props and jets.
That the A26 was flying over Vietnam in the same Era as the F105 and even F111.
That the war lasted long enough for the F14 to get a look in...... Which started with Operation FARMGATE and the flying of T28 Trojan's AND in that time, America had put a man on the moon!

On a family vacation in thr late 90s we came across a bunch of firefighting A-26s parked on the tarmac in Penhold, Alberta. They were surprisingly large and you def got a sense of how powerful the powerplants were to give it the performance it achieved. Quite impressive to see 6 of them lined up in black, yellow, and red paint schemes.

Of interesting note, alongside the Invaders was an F-86 Sabre done up in the forest fire fighting company's colors. I believe it was a Canadair built example but not sure. Guessing it was the boss' toy or a maybe a spotter?

Either way, it was an interesting day at a former Commonwealth Air Training Program airfield in small town Canada.

9:24 I tend to subscribe to the thought that historic events usualy 'rhyme' with other time periods, but this is frankly harmonious
