I remember taking my girlfriend to one in the late 70s as I thought it would impress her.  She married me anyway but even after almost 45 years of marriage she still remembers my embarrassment at the rip off meal we got!  Oh and our feet stuck to the carpet when we walked in.

I can't believe a steak and chips - no salad or side dishes  cost £50 and it was even good. Such a shame.
