They weren't forbidden/illegal they were unorthorised adaptations - unlike us forces (who run by the numbers) commonwealth military are expected to think for themselves.<br>The "bitch" was not the M 60 it was field moded L1A1 SLR. - they pack more punch than the M16 we use single shots or 3 round bursts, the silhouette of an AK made that man a target.

No John Miller on the vietnam roll for SASR. You can't learn to smell you can or can't. <br>The M16 was issued by the Australian Army no need to trade for. As others have said just a fantasy story

The “Bitch“ was a cut down barrel L1A1 that had a front grip, it most certainly wasn’t a cut down M60… everything about this seems like ChatGPT just making crap up… other than the fact that the ANZAC forces absolutely <i>rocket the shit</i> out of the VC.

Australia should have never gone into Vietnam it was waste of money and man power it is still costing the lives of the brave wounded soldiers that came back they still suffer from mental health issues a lot of them kill them selves because of their mental trauma

Typical septic tank, full of shyte .<br>The generals and the 30-40 man patrol doctrine you refer to must be American. As the Australian SAS already had it's 5 man patrol doctrine well in place before arriving in Vietnam.<br>SAS has never had weapons or weapon choice mandated by anyone other than themselves. The owen gun was part of their standard jungle weapons. Any weapon from any country could and would be used if they wished, or had one.<br>The SLR while long wasn't slow to bring up to fire as it was carried a ready to fire position not down by the hips. One bullet a trigger pull is NOT SLOW. Wiggle your finger 20 times, now your magazine is empty. Only slightly slower than an idiot on full automatic. At least the 7.62 was effective unlike the 5.56 .<br>I stopped watching 2 minutes in, these are your mistakes already.<br>-10/10
