I have my very first P-38 on my Dog Tags I got in 1972 when I was in basic and went onto infantry school. Old military equipment is still better for survival hunting and camping. Then a lot of these Walmart shit.. That is why the Military equipment is still around because it works. just like lever action, rifles, and single action wheel guns. They still make them because they work.

Honestly, the issued tri-fold entrenching tool was absolute crap. Damn thing broke nearly every time while digging a fighting position. The WWII entrenching tool was the real worthwhile tool.

I just checked my P-38 which is on the same key ring that I put it on in Vietnam. Been there for 64 years. There are no marking on it let alone US or Shelby.

Still have 2 of the 3 OD wool blankets from 1962. Best blankets ever. Also have a couple of P38s.

I still have my Shelby P-38 that my dad gave me just before I left for active duty all those years ago. It's right here on my key ring where it's been all this time. And I will keep it there for the rest of my life.

P-38 came in a couple of varieties. Got a nice collection. Still have a lot of the field gear I bought at clothing sales in eighties. Good stuff.

I still have mine from boot camp. and it's every bit as good as the day I got it, I ate C rations, Korea, and Vietnam era. MRE's came out a few years after I got out.
