on August 25 1969, my 3rd platoon h/2/7 marines lost 5 men after being sent into that battle to assist the army. as they were there, elements of the 196th initially refused to come to our aid but eventually went into the battle. I was on r and r at the time but lost some friends, including the marine who was carrying my radio in my absence. been a hard pill to swallow even after 57 years.

When the enemy learns your Ops and uses that for their Ops you need to change something.

What was wrong with Vietnam was taken ground then giving it back. Without a fight. The American politicians didn't want to win that war. They wanted to make money. Every single one of them. On both sides of the house

That would suck so bad to be bleeding to death and command saying they won’t send a medical because it’s too dangerous. I mean I understand why but still woukd be awful.

We had a transportation unit in Iraq in 2004 that refused to travel on the MSR due to lack of protection. Commanders were fired and senior NCOs were disciplined.

My father was a platoon sergeant in Alpha Company 3/21 196th one year before this happened.
