  Just to put the historical record straight they were not US Marines on patrol in the delta but US Army troops from the 9th Infantry Division.

  At about the 21 minute mark, the Dustoff segment, picking up wounded in the field, and then delivery to the ER of a hospital. The interior of the ER is a very strong memory/flashback for me. Medic, 17th Field Hospital ER, spring of ‘69. Very powerful and raw film.

  The Marines didn&apos;t work the four corps area(Mekong Delta) in force if at all in 1969.<br><br>The unit he was attached to was the 9th Infantry division (Old Reliables) Riverine force.

  I spent 4-1/2 months of 1968, all of 1969 and a couple of days in 1970 in the Central Highlands of South Vietnam in the US Army Special Forces. &nbsp;It was a very busy time for us.

  My dad was friends with Michael Nicolson....back when we had proper reporters. He was a great journalist. RIP.

  The best, and most, footage I’ve seen of the Vietnam War has come from ITV. The one broadcast done in the beginning of the war in ‘65 or ‘66 was exceptional. I’m talking movie camera quality. It followed a Gunship crew and documented behind the scenes footage of mechanics and other support personnel. They flew with the Gunship crews on strafing runs and in combat, also practicing their skills shooting aerial rockets into what appeared to be a practice range.

  1969 was a tough year for American troops, as was 1968 when the Tet Offensive took place. &nbsp;I was sent over in July of 1969, and critically wounded in December of that year. &nbsp;I spent most of 1970 in Army hospitals.

  My dad&apos;s best friend was killed when a B40 RPG hit the M113 he was on top of in May 1969.
