  Speaking of the choice to include a standby switch because of the chassis label: I have a &quot;Blackout Tweed&quot; 5e3 variant built &amp; sold by MojoTone - it has a tube rectifier &amp; no standby switch - they put the fuse holder where the standby switch might go, then they have a logo over the fuse position area. <br>It has a black plexi style faceplate with the labels turned around to read from the speaker grill side. I thought there is might be an empty hole covered by the faceplate on one of their regular 5e3 chassis - but nope, I checked some gut shots I did, and Mojo must have made a custom run for this series. Looking at my pics, Mojo used a turret board in this run instead of the usual eyelet board.

  This Standby config is very common, too common in my opinion. RI Vox &nbsp;AC30 amps and many others break the path between the rectifier and first filter stage and they all tend to have premature shorts in the rectifier tube for the reason Lyle stated. Tube rectos don&apos;t like seeing a short circuit, even for an instant. Repeated surges from toggling the standby switch will eventually destroy the tube. It is a much better config to wire the standby like the later AB763 type Fender amps. The first stage filter cap connected to the [rectifier tube - standby sw - OT center tap/feed resistor to 2nd stage filter.] I also like to see 2KV 1A diodes in series with the HT feeds to the rectifier plates. That way if the rectifier tube does short, the diodes will keep the PT from seeing it. <br>I do agree that overall, this build is a cut above most. I do prefer my heater wires against the chassis on a 5E3 build though. With proper routing they will be just as quiet as hanging them in the air. The eyelet board and tube sockets are hard enough to access without putting the heater wires in the way.
