As a half greek, I enjoyed you having included olive oil and different kind of olives. Cheers from Athens, Greece.

Sadly, sardines used to be a "poor person food"...that flipped...now sardines are very very expensive.

My family is super supportive of the way i eat now and my dad is on the same diet as me, so around my family there is no pressure. But at work… well. That’s a different story. I work at hair salon and now that I eat different, the ladies won’t let me participate in any of potlucks. I’m not invited to after work stuff because I can’t eat the food or drink all the alcohol that they like. I’m a pariah at work and it’s awful.

Before I started keto/carnivore, I was invited to things, now they think I’m insane and “dangerous” to be around because of my “unhealthy” way of living (despite losing 100 pounds and improving my health).

The stigma can be difficult. And dating can be difficult because it’s hard enough to meet someone after the age of 40 …and every guy seems to want a woman that bakes cakes and cookies and cooks pasta and high carb casseroles. I don’t go out to restaurants very often. Dating is often all about indulging in food together, so that’s super difficult to navigate when you know the negative consequences your body has if you eat foods that cause problems.

So socially, I’m an outcast now, but I still think my life is better overall. It’s tough, though. There’s a real genuine hatred for keto and carnivore because of the way we have been indoctrinated into the “health industry.” People have intense reactions to it.

We’ve been trained that meat and fat are bad, and when you make it 95% of your diet… well, that’s just “horrifying” to some people. You constantly get people in your face telling you that you are going to die eating this way…mean while they eat their “healthy” gluten free, higher carb, rice-crusted pizza and wonder why they can’t get their diabetes under control.

This is amazing. Honestly the biggest reason I wanted to know what you eat in a day is because I am always surprised when I see the little photos of your meals you post. There are things on your plate I would never have even thought to have eaten as part of a meal.

Finally a doctor who debunks the egg-cholesterol myth with science! 🍳 The explanation about Chicin and how the liver downregulates production [02:42] is so helpful. I also love the tip about using acid to reduce AGEs during cooking. This is the high-level nutrition advice we need! 👏

OMG, my long lost brother!! This is my exact keto diet (except organ meats). I am a Physician Assistant with a strong interest in nutrition. Thank you for your great content! I love your funny and scientific approach and your emphasis on individual diet. Most of my life I believed I was lactose intolerant but since eating keto, I really enjoy not just sheep and A2 diary, but also cow heavy cream and all sorts of cheeses.

About olive oil, I hear the Romans (from antique Rome) were making 2 types of olive oil. 1 for normal consumption from black olives (black from ripeness), and one medical from unripe green olives. Couldn't check the veracity. But it seems that unripe olive conntain more 'goodcproperties...'

Yes I personally find the social aspect the most difficult one. People, even close ones, think you're overly concerned about diet or think you're crazy because fat and meat are "very unhealthy". That is not always easy, it makes you feel guilty because you have demand a sort of "special treatment". And for most people a gut inflammation is something quite abstract, they don't get what is driving your choice.

Dear Dr. Norwitz, this was a very entertaining video - and packed with great curiosity-inspiring information! Thank you for sharing and educating. You are a gift to those, including me, who are trying to stimulate their own healing, and also as an advocate for reasonableness and appropriate skepticism of the medical industry. Thanks for the info and everything you do. We love you and need you.
