Thank you to everyone for watching the video. We are getting a lot of enquires from the back of this which is great but we only cover Walsall, Wolverhampton and surrounding areas. At the moment it’s extremely hard to get back to all the comments and enquires but we appreciate anyone that gets in touch or leaves a comment 🙏🫡

Greetings from Japan. In Japan, you have the option to pay an additional 30,000 yen or so to install a cover for your air conditioner's outdoor unit. These covers are very popular because installing one after the unit is set up helps prevent overheating and can reduce monthly electricity costs by approximately 1,000 yen. Some models even feature a lockable storage compartment, making them convenient for storing gardening supplies or DIY tools.

Had this unit fitted about three weeks ago, been great so far. Will look at a multi split on the other side of the house for two of the bedrooms next year., only problem will be its a long run for the power to the consumer unit, probably through the loft to make it a shoprter run

Really good point on not setting it to 16! With heating a lot of people don't understand a thermostat tells it when to stop, it doesn't control how much power it gives out or how quickly it heats up.

That's a crisp, clean installation! Hope you get a load of extra work off the back of that job.

Great series of air-con videos, thanks for sharing real world installs. Trying to learn about installing mini splits in particular. On say an average pipe run what's an acceptable vacuum drop over 15mins with say a 6M pipe run and a 2.5Kw unit with a vacuum down to 300microns?
The minute you isolate the pump the vacuum springs back quickly usually 200ish microns then can slowly level off over 15mins to around 8-900microns.

Great video, I do agree with the comments about the drain hose being too small and Chris needs a belt to hold up them shorts

Summary: The main criticism is that the installation looks neat, but several commenters think parts of it are technically poor or likely to cause problems:

Condensate drain is too small: The strongest repeated complaint is the use of a ¼-inch pipe for a gravity drain. Installers say it may clog with dirt or slime, airlock, and cause water to overflow indoors. They recommend roughly ½-inch, ¾-inch, 16 mm or 21.5 mm drainage instead.
Drainage and wall penetration: Commenters question whether the pipe has enough downward fall, whether the drilled hole slopes outside, and why the wall opening was not properly foamed or sealed.
Incorrect or excessive use of Nylog: Some say the sealant should be applied only sparingly to the flare’s mating face, not over the threads or surrounding surfaces.
Pipework handling: There are criticisms that the copper was bent by hand rather than with pipe benders, and that one pipe may not have been deburred properly.
Vacuum and commissioning standard: One commenter says the system should stabilize below 500 microns, questioning why 2,000 microns was treated as acceptable. They also question whether the minimum required pipe length was followed.
Outdoor-unit positioning: Concerns include insufficient clearance from the fence, placing the unit too low, lack of rubber vibration mounts, and possible vibration or airflow problems.
Indoor-unit positioning: One unit may obstruct curtains, restrict access to the lintel, or have been fitted awkwardly away from the wall.
Qualifications and experience: A harsher criticism is that an F-Gas certificate alone does not make someone a fully trained refrigeration and air-conditioning engineer.
Safety: One commenter criticises the lack of PPE while drilling and improper use of an adjustable spanner.

So, the central criticism is: the job appears visually tidy, but experienced AC installers believe several technical details—especially the undersized condensate drain—could cause leaks, blockages, callbacks, or reliability issues.
