  Not all that surprised that the deer antler worked so well. It’s been used for thousands of years for projectiles, I figured it’d be pretty good.

  So fun bow hunter knowledge here: I&apos;m assuming these broadheads weren&apos;t really measured for grains. Arrows as a whole are measured in grains. The heavier your arrow, the more energy it retains when it hits the target, but it may fly slower than lighter arrows. You can really play around with your setup, because the arrow has weight, the nock has weight, the broadhead insert has weight, and the broadhead has weight. There&apos;s also a concept called &quot;Forward of Center&quot; (or FOC) where you focus on more weight at the front of the arrow rather than balanced weight. This generally will have a shakier arrow at the start of the flight path (in the first ~20 or so yards) but will absolutely slam through targets, which is why some hunters get full pass throughs with a bow whereas others might trash the bow because they didn&apos;t - because their arrow weight was either too light or not enough FOC to have the same punch.<br><br>The broadheads in this video that still penetrated really well were all heavier materials.
