Fun Fact: Here in Germany there had been found an original FG42 on the bottom of the river rhine. And it was like new! There was no corrosion at all, because the mud sealed it from air and therefore also oxygen.

The visible sparks flying out when they fire is obviously the powder not burning completely. I'd say that was solely the ammo deteriorating over the 100 days. Very interesting test. Thanks for doing this!

I think this turned into an ammo test as much as a gun test. I'm betting a lot of the problem was moisture intrusion into the powder because they all looked to be short stroking, but new ammo worked fine.
