Why is everyone always surprised that a good movie could be made in the 1970s? That was a golden age of film! Practical effects are often better than CGI.

I saw this movie when it came out in the theater. I was 22 at the time and went with my boyfriend. I was already scared while we were walking into the theater. I love this movie and I've lost count of how many times I've seen it. I think it's a perfect movie all around.

it's amazing that people to this day miss the fact that one of the landing pads collapsed on a uneven rock causing the damage to the ship.

I love the first and second but after that, they pale in comparison. The next one honors the original but dials it up to 11. Enjoy!

Fun fact: though Ripley treats Ash with suspicion throughout the movie (with good reason), and Ash is pretty openly bitchy toward her, during the shoot Sigourney Weaver and Ian Holm became good friends when, recogniziing how lonely and homesick Weaver was, Holm kindly invited her to stay at his hobby farm outside London.
