'Design an outfit or a room so it will still feel right when it is messy: so it feels natural, not a source of stress'. I love this.

I've never heard anyone talking about the 'signs of life', the clutter, the untidyness, as a design element. It is eye opening for me and also quite moving, I don't know why, but it just made me feel relieved and reassured. For some reason I needed to hear that my space doesn't have to look like nobody lives here, to look nice. But also, it's a brilliant idea to take into consideration the amount of clutter that inevitably appears in a room during a tipical day in the life of a family, when designing the baseline. I get overwhelmed easily in a cluttered space, so it is a very useful concept for me. My rooms need to feel super paired back when they are tidy, so that I can still fell good in them, when they get messy. Thank you so much for this unique take on this topic ❤

I so appreciate how you break down and explore and name ( “signs of life” as little touches of imperfection is beautiful ) these things that are so subconscious for me. <br>Not for nothing you’re a poet lol

I’m sincerely amused by your topics, the way your mind works!😅❤ Things we might think of but not necesserely start a conversation about it - you always verbalize them! I love it! This is why I’m here, love you Hannah’s brain, please keep up the curiosity towards life🙈🥰

I love your focus on individual taste as the most important factor to consider when choosing items to fit your own aesthetic. I’m raising daughters and I’ve consciously tried to instill this belief into their little heads. Trust me, no one will humble you like a middle schooler but I knew I had been successful when I picked up my 6th grader one day. She told me she didn’t like my outfit. Without any fuss I said “that’s ok, I like it”. She told me she knew I was going to say that and shrugged her shoulders. 😂 I have modeled the confidence I want her to feel and it’s working. She wears what she wants without worrying about her friends.

Interesting. When I think of "busy outfits" but "calm interior," I think of Mary Poppins, with her flower hats and matching suits, who lived on a cloud. I think of a personality with much to do in the world, and home is just a base. When I think of "calm outfits" and "busy interiors," I think of someone sort of the opposite--they have much to do in their own space, and prefer to put that effort into the space. I think many artists, designers and thinkers are like this, with their simple style uniforms and homes full of collectibles.

I think one thing that I've discovered in a smallish home with a largish family: I need to err on the side of less decor because when we're actually living in the space people will have a lot of stuff out. A very decorated room can be great if nobody's actually in there but if my five kids are in there and they're each doing something even if it's just reading a book... it's a lot going on. LOL

Signs of life is a nice phrase for the feeling of an esthetically and emotionally appealing outfit or room.
