Why You Always Want One More Thing

I call it the disease of more. I often think of my grandmother, who was the ultimate minimalist. She was frugal but what she had suited her so well and she always looked beautiful. Her hair was always curled, she always had her rusty red lip on and she probably owned less than 20 items of clothing that suited her perfectly. I remember most of them. She looked wonderful every day. Less really is more.

I found that having less makes me value my things more. They are more special.❤

As a seamstress myself, the way that white dress was cut & sewn was absolutely diabolical 😭

There's a poem by Wilhelm Busch that ends with saying that wishes procreate the moment they are fulfilled.

I’m sorry to say that the “treat yourself” culture of 2010s did irreparable damage. The concepts of ‘I deserve to have good things’ and ‘I am getting these things because I deserve them’ collapsed into each other

After a few years of really poor mental health and over shopping because I didn't like myself or my life, I actually deleted my social media accounts because of how negatively they affected me. It has been about a month and I have felt SO much calmer. For me my toxic three have been sugar, shopping, and social media. I'm doing my best to break up with all three. Love your videos. And you look great in that blue!

Hedonic Treadmill - What is new or a treat becomes normal life, even the act of buying yourself things or your partner lavishing you with gifts becomes normalized. The worst part of this is that if it stopped, you'd be annoyed or angry. You forget to see it as a bonus and a act of value and love.

Content like this is needed which is rare compared to buy this buy that in so many straight and manipulated ways.

I ask myself the following questions:

* Would I wear these $200 clothes 200 times?
* Would I work for hours and hours to buy this item?
* I take screenshots of everything I want to buy when I feel the urge to impulse shop; when I look at my phone the next day, I often don't want any of it anymore, or I'm only interested in one thing.
* Does this purchase bring me closer to or further away from my true goal?
