It's been said that when you speak the names of the dead, they have life again. Thank you JD for giving life to these long forgotten victims.

I'm a nosey person, I looked up Ruth Freising, found her on Find a Grave. Got married to Leo Falek in NYC in 1941, had a daughter Sandra Jane Falek, doesn't say when. Passed away in 2005 at the age of 84, buried in Virginia. I'm so glad she got to live a full life here.

I am in the US and never knew about the stumbling stones. Interesting how you can look at a church and just see a big beautiful building and appreciate its architecture and age. But when you look closely, you see how cruel man has been for centuries. I will never be able to explore Europe and see any of this first hand. I am very appreciative of your channel.

My dad was in the 6th calvary and was in Regensberg at the end of the war. He was a guard over German officers and also a radio operator. He was 19.❤

I am from the region and know Regensburg. Some people don’t like the Stolpersteine because they literally get steppt on, they have a point, but I like them. It is one thing to have a big memorial in the city, but a total other thing to see it everywhere, to read the names, to see how much there are, that it happend in this nice city… in Europe we always walk over history, in cities Like Regensburg you can not dig without find some history and sometimes even treasures. This names shouldn’t be forgotten. I hope many generations stop at this stones, read their names and mumbel „never again“!

Stolperstein or “stumbling stones” are everywhere. I was in Hamburg a few years ago and noticed them in front of the Rathaus. I started taking photos of all of the brass plates everywhere I saw them. It’s a somber reminder that these people existed and their names will never be forgotten.

My husband's maternal side lived in Regensburg, and were Jewish. One of them became Christian in the 1800s and moved to America. She attended and taught at a Catholic girls' school. Hubby's grandmother said they received letters from the family in Regensburg before? during? WW2, asking for help, but weren't able to afford to help. I'll be telling a descendant of that family about your video. In Jewish law, my man was Jewish. His Baptist mom married his Catholic father after the war, so the family was really mixed (part Pawnee). Thanks for the video.
