  Let&apos;s remember Irena Godyń born Juchniewicz. Daughter of Michał and Maria. His farher fought bolsheviks in 1919-1920 War of Independence. She fought Soviets in Grodno after 17 September 1939 invasion.<br> In Warsaw there is a large street named after Defenders of Grodno - &quot;Aleja Obrońców Grodna&quot;.<br>She prepared Molotov coctails for Molotov&apos;s agressors.<br>Poland remembers.

  I interviewed my grandmother and her sister before they both died. I didn&apos;t manage to interview my father before he died. If you have old people around, interview them.

  I grew up with escapees from the Gulag. One was a Juchniewicz who remembered holding his father&apos;s hand and watching the nazi planes flying towards them in September 1939. Many others were released from Siberia (when Churchill demanded their release in return military help to Russia) and mainly walked maybe 2000 km to the Polish Army remnant at The Caspian Sea ( about 1 million perished). 2 years in (then)Persia &nbsp;then Wellington ,N.Z. 4/11/1944. One friend had been found alone at 3 and taken in by another family and given a name. When asked to choose a date for a birthday she chose the Polish National Date by chance! I still cook Polish food and keep in touch with grandchildren.
