I actually cry at points in this movie. A tragic character carrying out violence against victims of the same system that broke him. Rats in a maze eating each other.

Falling Down was meant to show the death of the middle class and holding onto 'what was' vs adapting to change. It was shot in LA during the LA riots (which actually interrupted and delayed filming). The oppressive heat is it's own character, just like the congestion, representing a choking, inescapable feeling as the main character reaches his 'boiling point' with the depreciation of society and loss of the American Dream. <br><br>Just as relevant today.
