If you are noticing audio sync issues, it is because of YouTube’s new “feature” called Stable Volume. It’s automatically turned on and can desync a lot of videos.
Turn it off in the settings of this video to fix the problem :)

The "not economically viable" scene gets me every time. (And even with all his faults Foster's silent nod towards the guy is something that really elevates the character for me.)

Michael Douglas has said on multiple occasions that this was his favorite role of his career, and honestly, i have to agree. Such a powerful film.

Have to say, this was one of my favourite Michael Douglas performances, watching this character break down bit by bit is amazing to watch and so intense

One of the genius moments everyone misses is in the very first sequence, where the motorcycle cop is being an asshole. He's the first sign of authority we see in the film and he's at the same point as Michael Douglas. It sets the tone of the film as the first reflection of modern society and how shit it is.

A musing: while DFens is wandering around, he seems nameless, without form, even to the point that bullets seem to miss him completely. But as soon as he's changed into the camo gear, we suddenly get his backstory, who he is.

It's almost as if he doesn't really exist until he reaches what he was always going to become - the bad guy.

 D-FENZ: I'm the bad guy?
Prendergast: Yeah.
D-FENZ: How'd that happen? I did everything they told me to.

Standard 12oz can of soda was, in nearly all places, 50 cents, not just during this year (my last year of high school), but through most of the ‘80s, as I remember it. 85c was an exorbitant amount for can, and I’d only seen that a few times, in like airports, or in high traffic, high cost-of-living areas. Pay phones for local calls were 20c.
