When Beetljuice was trapping that fly and he was croaking “help me! help me!” that was an homage to the original version of the movie The Fly. Lol

Michael Keaton had pretty much free-range with this character - everything from his lines and movements to his makeup and costume.
Getting to be as crazy as you want with such a character is what really brings out the magic!

My favorite bit in the movie (aside from The Banana Boat Song scene):

Adam: What are your qualifications?
Beetlejuice: Ah. Well...I attended Juilliard. I'm a graduate of the Harvard business school. I travel quite extensively. I lived through The Black Plague and had a pretty good time during that. I've seen The Exorcist about 167 times, AND IT KEEPS GETTING FUNNIER EVERY SINGLE TIME I SEE IT!!!! NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT YOU'RE TALKING TO A DEAD GUY!!!! Now what d'ya think? Ya think I'm qualified?"

Yes, Betelgeuse is spelled that way. It's an old spelling for the name of a red supergiant star that makes up one of the stars in the constellation of Orion.

Winona in this movie was Christina RIcci's inspiration when she played Wednesday in the Addams Family.
