Thoroughly enjoyed this trip down memory lane. An excellent presentation. I am in Australia so the time lines are different but the machinery is much the same. Possibly all the points raised I did as a matter of course, never even thought about it. I had a series of GM vehicles (Holden) I ave driven a 1988 Toyota Hilux for the last 20 years, do most of the work myself so some points you present are still relevant, parts avilability is not a problem. It's slow, not good fuel economy and gets hard use. For all of its limitations it is my car, no dubious sorftware and I drive it, not the other way around. It does not sufer from enshitification.
