Since I am 75 years old I remember the cars of years past that had no seat belts, metal dashboards with hard knobs and switches, also I remember steering columns that were a solid metal post from the steering wheel to the steering gearbox. A lot has changed over the years. Today's cars are a lot safer than the cars I rode in as a child.

cars were not desiged for safety back in the old days. Cars were the most dangerous thing you owned

ALso, many cars in the '60s and '70s the gas tank could catch fire when the car was rear ended as the gas tank was all the way in the back . The Ford Pinto was a death trap. Ford put profits over safety. Lee Iacocca had said people don't care about safety. He thought safety doesn't make a sale
