  One thing that I hate about the movie is how toxic the friends and bf are, they like her job until it doesn't benefit them, and when it doesn't benefit them they treat her like shit or mess around with her job.

  I think Andy's boyfriend & her friends were hypocritical & overly critical at different points the movie. I also think that Nate was becoming a bit jealous of Andy's success at her job. I think if Andy simply acknowledged that she was changing she would've been able to defend herself better against the criticisms from her friends.

  Dude, if my boyfriend had to miss my birthday because of work, I would understand it. Especially when it was such an important opportunity. I think that is reasonable as long as my boyfriend kept me informed about missing the celebration. It's just a birthday, we can do it again on another day. I would expect the same understanding from my SO as well.

  I love Meryl Streep in this role she just had all the power and yet she talked in a calm voice whenever she wasn’t taking any crap from anyone

  If there is a lesson to be learned from this movie is that if you are a woman you are practically given two choices: be super successful and have absolutely nothing else or not be successful and have meaningful relationships. and fighting against having to choose and trying to maintain both is a fight that is still on going for pretty much all women.

  Honestly, everyone in Andy’s personal life are pretty negative. She’s on a struggle bus tryna grind for a year!! She’s tryna grow her career and this is a sacrifice that has to be done if your job is so fast paced. Now if she kept missing bdays and events after the year then I understand if Nate finally acts like a dick but not in the 6 month (i actually don’t know what the timeline is but i know it’s less than a year) mark.

  Towards the end, Andy and Miranda become mirrors for each other. Andy= Miranda’s past and Miranda= Andy’s future. They’re even wearing similar cut dresses (it was intentional they said it was) so this just shows that they’re both in each other’s confidence and trust. Huge deal for Miranda.

  btw Miranda's character is based on Anna Wintour, Vogue's editor-in-chief since 1988. Everything they say about Miranda approving collections and designers changing entire collections based on her opinion is true. She is considered one of the, if not THE most influential person in the industry.
