  I am on a fixed income, a disability. Do you know what feels really good to me? I don't have any debt, I don't own a credit card, I own my own car AND at the end of the month I have some cash left over. My disability is very low, and if I chose to sit around and feel sorry for myself, I'm sure I'd talk myself into a credit card or something. Instead I made the decision to look at how fortunate I am,  I have food in my cupboards a roof over my head. And a little left over for a special coffee on occasion. And I am very happy

  As a teacher it’s weird seeing these back to school hauls where parents and children will spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on wants, like clothes or new technology, but then fall into a rage if the teacher doesn’t provide the school supplies they failed to get.

  My son is a junior in high school and one thing I’m proud of is that he couldn’t care less about getting new stuff every year or about brands/trends. <br>He’s used only TWO backpacks since 4th grade and his “back to school haul” this year was a pack of socks from Costco and a new pair of jeans. He doesn’t even care that he still has an iPhone 13. I’d get him a new one if he asked but he’s very much the “this one still works just fine” kind of kid. <br>One clue: he doesn’t have social media

  My JROTC teacher gave me a piece of advice I still follow 12 years later. If there&apos;s something you really want, wait two weeks. If you still want it in two weeks after you saved then get it. I find most of the time it&apos;s an impulse thing, but it still motivates me to save either way
