  Here’s the thing about having small kids… they can’t tell the difference between $500 and $50. It doesn’t take extravagant purchases to make them feel special and loved.

  My mother stayed up all night one Easter, knighting a blue sweater and a pink dress for me and my sister. We lived in Ukraine, and had no money. It was a very special Easter. No basket can ever compare. ❤💙

  What happened to a little bit of candy, maybe a kite, a coloring book, or some sidewalk chalk?What happened to letting kids be kids? A lot of the stuff in these baskets are products for adults.

  As an adult, I typically will get a small bag of candy from my grandma. But my favorite Easter basket was when she got me a spaghetti dinner basket-- I had just moved out, so didn't have a ton of dishes or food, and she got me a jar of sauce, some strainers/colanders (that was the "basket"), some spaghetti, and a shaker of parmesan cheese. Funny and useful. :)

  That first Mama is in danger of teaching her little girl that spending money is the end-all, be-all. People can be treated well and feel 'special' without money being spent.

  The little boy at <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDfCjp9fSGI&amp;t=244">4:04</a> who was so excited, thanking and hugging his mom was so sweet. It melted my heart.
