  This movie does mark my second bomb in box office predictions, however.<br>I am on video saying Moana would make a billion dollars, even though I wish it did not exist. I&apos;m extremely happy to be wrong there.<br>I am also on video predicting Odyssey making $550 million, because the trailer looked quite boring and there wasn&apos;t much chatter online beyond culture war stuff. I figured the normie audience would pass.<br>It&apos;s actually comical how incorrect that number was!

  Also anyone else just SICK of &quot;realistic&quot; takes or &quot;grounded&quot; movies. Cause it seems like every movie that gets released now has to be grounded in some capacity. Even the MCU tries to somewhat dial down the more fantastical elements of the comics.<br><br>Can we just get a completely balls to the wall insane fantasy story please?

  The funny thing that I noticed is that most of my friends who know nothing about the Odyssey have praised Nolan for doing things that are already in the Odyssey. A lot of them found the dog&apos;s death to be really moving for example, and it&apos;s like ... idk how to tell you this but that&apos;s from the story and he did the bare minimum to make it work on screen tbh.

  I googled &quot;sean bean odysseus&quot; showed it to my friends that liked the movie and then asked them if they saw Matt Damon smile at all in the movie. &nbsp;The image Sean Bean laughing at one of his own jokes while petting his dog broke Nolan&apos;s spell over my friends. &nbsp;It was like the scene when Gandalf broke Wormtongue&apos;s hold on Theoden all of a sudden their eyes cleared and their passion for stories of heroics and camaraderie was reignited.

  I find it quite telling that in Nolan&apos;s fantasy universe, the Gods are not real (or at least, they are not present), but monsters are.

  Nolan is a skilled film maker but he always came across to me like his parents read him historical documents before bed instead of fairytales. Nolan is fascinated by people, but sees them as faulty machines more than anything

  I feel like Peter Jackson would’ve been a better choice to make ‘The Odyssey’. Yes, he changed or omitted something’s in LOTR, but at their heart they are STILL faithful for Tolkien’s work. Nolan’s Odyssey? Not so much. Jackson would’ve had the Gods be present, the magic/sorcery, and the epic scale of it. He also probably would’ve gotten an actual Greek-correct ship and armor/weapons.

  Okay, everyone, hear me out: Nolan is perceived as a genius partly because he wears a suit, an overcoat and a scarf, looks posh, and speaks in a refined manner with an English accent. He also avoids explaining his films too much.<br>Even when he talks about mundane things in interviews, he never explains them simply. He always overcomplicates the subject. For example, if an interviewer asked him how he made scrambled eggs, he would probably say:<br><br>“I have a french friend who owns une ferme de poulet, and he gave me two eggs gorgeous Brown eggs . I also have an Italian friend whose family owns two-thousand-year-old olive trees and produces olive oil every five years. So I scrambled the eggs in that oil and served them on a plate made by a renowned Japanese ceramicist.
