  I was shocked how Amazon can spend a small fortune on the rights of a book, and then the scriptwriters change it to something completely different. If you want to do that instead of the wheel of time, create and original series.

  If you told a 16 year old me that I would live in a time with regular superhero, Star Wars, and high fantasy content to watch for basically free, and that I would have no interest in any of it - I would say you were crazy

  ‘The Dragon could be a boy or grill’. Sigh. If the dragon had been a girl or there was a chance it could be a girl they’ll be no book. The complexities of having a male Chosen one knowing he had limited time to save the world while going mad, drove that book series. Why fundamentally alter something like that. I’m sorry but Rafe Judkins is an idiot. People should praise Amazon for canceling this show. They finally did something right.

  The Wheel of Time books hold a special place in my heart. I will never forgive the showrunners for their butchery of the source material and how generally awful their adaptation was.

  I remember in the first season there’s a character Liandrin giving the “it’s a man’s world speech” to Nynaeve and Nynaeve just sits there silently like she isn’t a public leader in her village, that she hasn’t just passed through a kingdom ruled exclusively by a queen and that she isnt currently standing in an ivory tower governed by exclusively female sorcerers. Nynaeve is supposed to be a leader and an outspoken one as well, she should be insulted that someone would suggest that she is less than others because of her gender and none of her lived experiences should suggest Liandrin’s opinion has any merit. It shows that the writers aren’t thinking from the characters perspectives, they are not writing with the character’s backstory in their head. It means the character have no core personality, they change on the whim of the author, which is great when you need a mouthpiece to preach your moral philosophy but makes for dull entertainment.

  Having read the books and being a human being capable of pattern recognition, I knew this was going to be an un-salvageable dumpster fire after I saw the trailer and the first two scenes. But the nail in the coffin for me came when Rafe Judkins (the show runner) responded to criticisms of the show's deviation from the source material by proclaiming that he was going to deal with online haters by making their favorite characters gay. So people are upset that you changed the story and your answer is to change the story even more out of spite. The pettiness is pathetic, and I hope Rafe changes careers to something more suitable to his talents. Like passive-aggressive barista, or bitchy gossiping hair stylist.

  These "writers" are so full of themselves, they're saying it's the genre that's dead and that they did nothing wrong. The narcissistic writers of Wheel of Time and Rings of Power blame us, the fans, for not watching the show.

  Robert Jordan went to war in Vietnam. He talks at length about the three main characters feel about death. Rand&apos;s guilt at people dying for him, Perrin&apos;s fear that he&apos;ll start to like it, Mat&apos;s avoidance behaviors of gambling and wenching. <br><br>He talks a lot of duty, honor, courage, responsibility.<br><br>Many characters are thrust into their roles and rise to them. <br><br>But the people on the show have never lived life like that. Safe bubbles, fancy schools, cliquey ingroups.<br><br>Jordan was a door gunner on a helicopter.<br><br>He had a close up view of horror and had to realistically accept that any flight could be his last.

  Showrunner complained they didn&apos;t have enough episodes but also wrote characters into show that only talked about their relationship that had nothing to do with story that was adapted. <br><br>Just an absolute mismanagement of adaptation. When you have an end you already know, EVERYTHING needs to be in service of getting there as efficiently as possible. Dude killed characters that didn&apos;t die at those points and kept characters that took away time from telling story. Huge gaffe.

  Two Rivera was supposed to be so homogeneous that a ginger like Rand stood out like a sore thumb and made the eventual diversification feel almost shocking.

  it was canceled because the writers was egotistical enough to believe they can improve on the source materials of 13 books, think they know more about the reasons why millions of fans&apos; love the original materials than all of us.
