  Thank you for this treasure. This is Evert at her peak years being the clear number 1 Player and teally dominating and hitting out with her groundies.<br><br>Just look at her confidence with her shots ...there is no holding back or insecure part of it. Margaret actually played really well here and showed everyone again that she had a peferct attacking game at the net; a highly potent serve and a really smooth backhand combined with a powerful forehand that stood her ground quite well.<br><br>The rallies are awesome and Chris had to work her way through some resistence but in the end the power and accuracy of her shots combined with her variety lead her to victory.<br><br>During those early indoor Events in the seventies Chrissie and her better opponents really punish the ball. Would be great if you find some early footage of her against Wade, Navratilova, King, Stove and esepcially Goolagong, where she had a beautiful rivalry and they both played unbelieveable rallies &nbsp;or Barker and Fromholtz as they were strong from the baseline and could challenge Chris a lot.<br><br>Thank you for this great edit. You really depicted the greatness of both players Court and Evert with their Individual talents in a perfect way ❤.

  (RU) Я далеко не специалист в теннисе, но даже мне очень интересно наблюдать за игрой великих мастеров тенниса тех лет. Подкупает разнообразие ударов и виртуозное владение ракеткой, выходы к сетке и блестящая игра со сменой игры от откровенно силовой, до виртуозной игры при укороченных ударах. В интервью, великая Мартина Навротилова как то сказала, что задняя линия корта - это линия защиты. Средняя линия корта - это линия контратаки, а у сетки - это чистая атака. Блестящее определение. А так как я не специалист в теннисе, мне нравится разнообразие в тактиках атаки, виртуозное владение ракеткой и скорость перемещения по корту. Игра достойна великих мастеров тех лет. Получил истинное удовольствие от их игры. Жаль что теперь женщины в теннисе предпочитают силовую игру в ущерб разнообразию ударов у сетки и владению укороченными ударами, которые так разнообразят теннис. Спасибо за минуты удовольствия наблюдать игру великих мастеров тенниса. Всем удачи.

  Since they didn&apos;t debut computational / official rankings until later in 1975, seeds in tournaments were very &quot;of the moment.&quot; &nbsp;Margaret was actually seeded 1 here with Chris 2. Chrissie had won San Francisco and Akron in 1975, and would eventually win the tour finals, but she had taken losses to King, Goolagong, Wade, and for the first time ever, to Martina, in a QF and a SF. &nbsp;You can see why seeding committees might have demoted her slightly. &nbsp;Also of interest: Evert came from match point down in the SF here, to beat Evonne, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6.

  Margaret Court was actually left handed, but started playing right handed as a child when her friends teased her that no left handed woman had ever won Wimbledon (at that time). &nbsp;She had incredibly physical gifts and it would have been interesting to see just what she could have done in the age of graphite racquets. Ted Tinling once told her that with her athletic gifts, she should never lose a match. &nbsp;Her main weakness was her nerves. She was particularly badly affected at Wimbledon, and won there fewer times than any other of the grand slams.

  Great to see the patterns that Evert employed against Margaret with great success:<br><br>1. &nbsp;Relentless assault on Margaret’s backhand<br>2. &nbsp;A dipping service return at Margaret’s feet, a weak response from Margaret, followed by a lob or a passing shot from Evert that ended the point<br>3. Making Margaret stretch, bend, and lunge from difficult positions

  People like to dismiss Margaret’s achievements with the Australian open argument. They never consider she took 1967 and a big part of 71-72 off, once for a temporary retirement and later because of a pregnancy. She missed around 8 slams during that time. Judging by her performance in slams it’s a conservative estimate to say she would have won at least 4 of them. If she had 28 slams she would have to be acknowledged as the GOAT. I guess it’s pointless to speculate but can’t help but wonder how she would be viewed if she had played those 2 years.

  Thanks for posting. &nbsp; &nbsp;Chris really went after Margaret’s backhand. &nbsp; And also worked her around. &nbsp;Chris seems to have overwhelmed her.

  Court had a really powerfull forehand, when she decides to use it. I was surprised of the weight of shot behind some of her field opening forehands. Too bad Chrissie running down everything here and really play those heavy balls back with interest ;-)
