  When Wade was on, she was as good as anybody. Powerful forehand and serve, athletic movement and good volleys. Was also a great commentator.

  Wade's game reminds me so much of Steffi Graf's. Similar forehand technique and low slice backhand. Also very quick on her feet. Ginny was unfortunately a nervous player.

  Powerful, impressive hitting by both; and I've rarely seen any match with Wade being so patient and consistent (save for the 1977 Wimbledon semi again Chris). Thank you for this wonderful match.

  I always liked Virginia's game but her nerves got the better of her a lot of the time. This shows how much game she had. I remember vividly her showing up to play World Team Tennis in spring 1977 (I think) with a new look - smiling, happy, relaxed, with a fluffy new hairdo. I didn't recognize her at first. Won Wimbledon a few weeks later.

  Thanks. I was in the audience for this. Spectators were marvelling at the power of Wade's serve. That spring, on one of the tour stops, they held a competition to find out who had the fastest serve. Wade and Navratilova tied for second place. Margaret Court came in first. Virginia was on a hot streak here, winning back-to-back tournaments. Cheers.

  Amazing week for Wade - had losing records versus King (9-31), Goolagong (10-28) and Evert but defeated all three this week. Wow!
