  I&apos;m going to leave my comment here because there aren&apos;t that many yet, and I&apos;m hoping you&apos;ll get a chance to read it. &nbsp;I love Star Trek. &nbsp;I grew up in the 70s, watching ST reruns on a black-and-white TV. &nbsp;There were no VCRs yet. &nbsp;I would record the audio of the episodes on my super-modern cassette recorder so I could listen to them when they weren&apos;t being aired. &nbsp;Reaction videos are a dime a dozen on YouTube. &nbsp;Most of them are 35-year-olds hugging their plushies while occasionally saying, &quot;Wow,&quot; and asking dumb questions. &nbsp;They don&apos;t realize that the best part of these videos (at least for me) is watching someone experience and really appreciate something that I already love. &nbsp;Watching you two experience and (in Mike&apos;s case) grow to love Star Trek is as close as I can get to seeing it again for the first time. &nbsp;Thanks for that.<br><br>I had forgotten how good Operation Annihilate really was. &nbsp;I love that even though it&apos;s a monster-of-the-week episode, it&apos;s ultimately about the emotional stakes. &nbsp;Kirk, fresh off the heartbreak of City on the Edge of Forever, loses two family members and almost a third. &nbsp;Spock resists unbearable pain and the pressure to act badly through sheer strength of mind and loyalty to be the story&apos;s real hero. &nbsp;McCoy deals with guilt over perhaps moving too quickly even though he couldn&apos;t have known a better solution was only moments away. &nbsp;You guys did not miss one thing.<br><br>I won&apos;t spoil at all, so don&apos;t worry. &nbsp;One thing I love about Spock in the series, as opposed to the later films -- except for TMP, which was Roddenberry&apos;s -- is that he may deny his emotions, but he is never baffled by them. &nbsp;In City on the Edge of Forever, he watches Kirk fall in love with Edith while he himself is also coming to the realization of what needs to happen. &nbsp; I never once felt that Spock didn&apos;t understand EXACTLY what was going on. &nbsp;His distress over the situation was tempered with empathy for Kirk. &nbsp;Leonard Nimoy somehow always managed to keep both feelings just out of reach behind his eyes. &nbsp;There&apos;s been a lot of Star Trek since, but it&apos;s never been as good as that.<br><br>I really appreciated YOUR appreciation of Spock&apos;s empathy in the episode. &nbsp;I&apos;ve always felt it, but rarely do I hear it acknowledged. &nbsp;You&apos;re great viewing partners. &nbsp;I can&apos;t wait to watch season two with you for the first time.<br><br>- Matt

  Great reaction!! One of my favorite Star Trek episodes. I&apos;ve seen these shows since the beginning. I love watching people discovering it for the first time!

  As a kid in the 70&apos;s, we just loved the scary flying snot monsters. &nbsp;That&apos;s what it was about for us. &nbsp;I forgot all about Kirk having a brother who died.

  If you look closely in the upper right corner when Spock goes down alone you can see the crews legs stadng on the overhead bridge
